Don't Define Me

People believe they know who I am
they take one look at me and say:
"Typical Blonde"

They hear my name and assume
I am common as well
Just because my name is plain
doesn't mean I am the same

Just because my hair is blonde
doesn't mean my world revolves
around the fall fashion

Under these blonde locks are
ideas on Shakespearean sexuality
and theological thoughts

Behind this name is a person
who dreams of meeting Angelou
and fears failure

Neither my name nor my hair
define the person I am.
Take the time and see
the person that is me.

College assignment: write a poem about your name: Got an A :-)
